Nikki Knows is a Toronto-based grassroots initiative.

Through capacity building (research, education, training, consulting, advocacy) Nikki Knows seeks to elevate knowledge and understanding of issues affecting and affected by the Canadian Justice System (CJS), so as to stimulate: meaningful dialogue, collective action, and a shift away from conventional thinking on crime and punishment.

Vision: Criminality lost, humanity found. The story of a society that came to value people over punishment.

Mission: Leverage the lived experiences of criminalized young people to build capacity for social/systems change in and around the CJS.

Guiding principles:

  • Good things come to those who create
  • Bias towards social impact
  • No bullshit
  • Smarter > harder
  • Get off, and/or stay off, that high horse
  • Know the “why”
  • Hear what isn’t said
  • Start with what’s possible, to do the impossible
